How to Triumph Over Fear with One Key Truth
Are you living in fear?
Let me ask you another way.
Are there fears in your life that are preventing you from moving forward in any particular area?
Is fear controlling what you do and don’t do?
These are honest questions.
I can say that the battle with fear has been an intense one lately.
I’ve allowed lies to seep in and drown out one important truth: God loves me.
Because of His love for me, He’s been showing me these various lies over the past few weeks.
Rather than letting me sink into the depths of its stronghold, He gently pulled me up and opened my eyes to the truth of what fear does to a person.
But He didn’t stop there.
He reminded me of His unending, faithful love for me. He reminded me that He is my security and that He is always ready to help me out of trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
How to Triumph Over Fear with One Key Truth
You see I have no reason to fear. I am perfectly loved and cared for by a God who is in control of all things.
I was reminded of this fact this week as I read How to Conquer Fear and Trust God’s Will One Day at a Time by Deb at Counting Your Blessings.
She states,
Fear doubts God’s love.
Whatever God allows, good or bad . . . Everything He allows or withholds comes from His immeasurable love.
He is love. Love is His character and He cannot deny or betray His character.
True, bad things happen. But God has used even the bad things, sometimes more so than the good things to bless my life, grow my faith and draw me closer. I can look back now at the worst events and experiences and praise God for the way He used them for my good and His glory.
I love that she points out that even when things don’t go the way we expect, God still uses them. He never wastes a thing.
Friend, when you know how much God loves you, fear has no hold on you. You triumph over fear.
I am reminded of the words to the beautiful song by Bethel Music: I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.
We can rest in His love and goodness today knowing that He provides for us, cares for us, and protects us.
Thanks for hosting us today, Alisa. It’s true. Remember God loves me and really receiving His love helps me conquer so many fears.
One of my favorite verses is perfect love casts out all fear. It’s amazing how that one truths can change our perspective and open our hearts to allow God to weed out the fears. Thanks for linking up today, Betsy!
Oh, it’s so true:
“Everything He allows or withholds comes from His immeasurable love.”
but it’s incredibly hard some days to remind myself of that truthf. Some days I might be more child-ish than child-like when I feel I need something and am asking, asking, asking… and then it leads to fear.
I’m very blessed to be able to talk it all over with my loving husband who can redirect my fears to realizing that God loves me. And he says that I do that for him too. We both encourage each other to trust in God’s love for us, instead of giving into fear.
Thanks so much Alisa for highlighting Deb’s post and for hosting us here for the Linkup.
That’s is awesome that you and your spouse encourage each other in that way! What a beautiful picture of what God intended for us to be for our spouses. Thanks for linking up today, Lori!
Alisa, You blessed my socks off!! Thank you sooooo much! Fear was a major struggle for waaaay tooooo long. I’ll admit I hated the road God used to show me His better way but oh, I’m thankful for it. God bless you bunches!
Well your post blessed me too! It’s nice to know we aren’t the only ones who have struggled. And it’s also great to be encouraged by biblical truths! I loved that you pointed us back to God’s love, it is the one thing that casts out all fear!
